🏁 Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally 2025: the ultimate adventure bike inspired by the Dakar Rally

When you ride the 2025 Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally, you’re riding one of the most extreme adventure bikes ever designed for off-road riding. Powered by the renowned 690cc CP2 engine, housed in a lightweight yet sturdy steel frame, the Rally version takes the legendary Ténéré 700 to a whole new level, directly inspired by rally raids and the Dakar.

With its fully adjustable KYB suspension and impressive 255 mm ground clearance, this bike has been designed to give the rider total control in the most extreme conditions. Every detail reflects its rally DNA: KYB long-travel front fork, 4 mm aluminum skid plate, titanium footpegs, and sleek, adventure-ready bodywork.

In terms of design, the 2025 Ténéré 700 Rally pays homage to the iconic 1983 XT600Z, with a unique color scheme, gold wheels, and the famous Yamaha Speed Block, complemented by a high front fender typical of desert racing.

For the rider, everything is designed for performance and comfort: a new high seat (910 mm), redesigned fuel tank, modified clutch cover for greater freedom of movement, and a cockpit inspired by rally roadbooks. The 6.3-inch color TFT screen features an exclusive Raid configuration, displaying only essential information when the terrain becomes difficult, while allowing for complete customization.

KYB fork

The Ténéré 700 Rally features a premium, fully adjustable 43mm KYB fork.

With reinforced tubes and a special coating to reduce static friction, the fork travel has been increased by 20 mm compared to the standard Ténéré 700, providing 230 mm of front wheel travel and an impressive 255 mm of ground clearance.

Rear shock absorber

Designed to work as one with the fork, the rear suspension of the Ténéré 700 Rally is engineered to excel in the toughest conditions.

Offering 220 mm of suspension travel, 20 mm more than the standard Ténéré 700, it also features a completely redesigned shock absorber and linkage system.

A large stop block is used to handle rough terrain, while the model features a canister reservoir with an aluminum body to keep the internal oil temperature low and ensure consistent damping in all conditions.

Exclusive delivery inspired by the 1980s

Celebrating the rich history of the Ténéré, the Ténéré 700 Rally pays homage to the past with its stunning 1980s-inspired livery, complemented by gold-spoked wheels and Yamaha’s iconic Speedblock pattern.

With its high front fender and classic Ténéré silhouette, this true adventure bike has been designed for the most demanding riders.

Raised front fender designed for rallying

The iconic high front fender completes the Ténéré’s distinctive look.

With a matching color and designed to be as practical as it is attractive, the raised mudguard protects against splashes in muddy conditions and eliminates the risk of mud accumulating between the tire and the mudguard.

Dedicated one-piece rally seat

Unique to this model, the dedicated onepiece rally seat offers a slightly higher and more upright riding position than the saddle found on the standard Ténéré 700.

Additional padding combines with the taller suspension to give a commanding 910mm seat height, 35mm higher than standard.

The saddle is shaped to offer greater off-road control while standing, while also increasing comfort in the seated position.

Off-road focused ergonomics

The Ténéré 700 Rally has been carefully updated to o er an even greater sense of unity between rider and machine.

The new fuel tank has been moved forward and the fuel cap sits lower for improved weight distribution, while the shape is narrower to offer improved knee grip for maximum control on all kinds of surfaces.

This is complemented by the at rally seat which is narrow and makes it easy to shift your weight around when riding o road.

Marc Bourgeois, Manager of the Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team, has seen his riders and customers achieve great success on the Ténéré 700 World Rally equipped with GYTR kits. He gives us the inside track on what sets the Ténéré apart from the competition.

Marc has helped his team win major events over the past 12 months, with historic victories for Pol Tarrés at last year’s Transanatolia rally and at the Morocco Desert Challenge 2024 on the Ténéré 700 World Rally, which beat the 450cc prototypes.

GYTR performance kits

He manages the team in collaboration with the riders and his entire team, including Emanuele Vignali, race engineer at Yamaha Motor R&D Europe, who played a key role in the development of the GYTR kits.

The addition of the GYTR Rally Kit, GYTR Performance Kit and GYTR Handling Kit to the Ténéré 700 World Rally gives the bike an edge over competing models, and gives riders like Pol Tarrés and Alessandro Botturi a powerful weapon with which to take on their rivals.

For Ténéré Spirit Experience customers like Stéphane Poulet, who rode alongside Tarrés in Morocco last month, or for customers who take part in events in the Raid category, their Ténéré bikes equipped with GYTR parts enable them to move up a gear.

He continues: ” I tested Pol’s motorcycle and those of our customers at events such as the Africa Eco Race and the Morocco Desert Challenge, or on short desert rides, and it’s obvious that this configuration allows you to ride in complete safety.
