Participation, categories, rental, logistics, equipment, training: the team’s answers, all in one place.

General information

Who can take part in a rally-raid with the Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team?

Anyone, provided you are of legal age and hold a valid driver’s license. No need to be a professional rider or to have done a rally before!

If you’re just starting out, the Raid category is ideal: it’s designed for adventure and discovery rather than pure competition.

For Ténéré 700 owners, it’s the perfect opportunity. And if you don’t have one, you can rent one from our team. Our goal: to make this experience accessible to all adventure enthusiasts.

Which category should I choose: Raid or Racing?

It all depends on your goals and your experience:

  • Racing: a competitive, technical experience. Navigation exclusively by roadbook, which demands precision and mastery. Ideal for taking on the classic challenges of rally-raid.
  • Raid: an approach focused on discovery and adventure, without the pressure of the clock. You ride at your own pace and navigate with either GPX tracks or a roadbook, as you prefer.
Is it possible to rent a motorcycle for a rally-raid?

Yes. You can come with your own Ténéré 700 or rent a bike from our team:

  • Ténéré 700 GYTR: fitted with GYTR kits, a true competition motorcycle with a more powerful engine and a chassis optimized for rallying.
  • Other models: Ténéré World Raid, Ténéré Standard.

For the Africa Eco Race, all motorcycles are fitted with additional fuel tanks to ensure the minimum range required by the organizers.

If I bring my own motorcycle, does the package include maintenance?

You have the choice: handle the maintenance and preparation of your motorcycle yourself, or leave it to our team.

Registration and commitment

How do I register for a rally-raid?

Fill out the pre-registration form: a member of our team will contact you, answer all your questions and guide you through finalizing your registration.

What are the steps to take part?

Once your registration is confirmed, we tell you exactly which formalities apply to your category, for example regarding the license:

  • Racing: a sports license is mandatory.
  • Raid: no license required.

We take the time to explain each step.

What additional costs should I expect?

Not included in the Support Package:

  • your travel to the rally starting point;
  • hotel nights before the start and after the finish;
  • fuel used during the race;
  • spare parts for your motorcycle;
  • the mandatory license for the Racing category.
What is the advantage of being immersed in the official team?

You’re an integral part of the team and benefit from the expertise of our staff, our riders and our ambassadors. Immersion simplifies the admin, logistics and mechanics, so you can enjoy a unique experience without the mental load.

Preparation and equipment

What preparation is needed?

Raid or Racing, a rally takes preparation: good physical fitness is recommended to enjoy it to the full.

To improve your riding, train at one of the Ténéré Centers. For roadbook navigation, courses are available in Aveyron and Morocco.

What equipment do I need?

When you register, the team guides you through preparing for your rally with the “rider’s to-do list”. If you’re bringing your own motorcycle, you’ll also get expert advice on how to equip it.

What navigation equipment is needed?
  • GPX tracks (Raid category): you navigate with a GPS.
  • Roadbook (Raid or Racing): roadbook holder and tripmaster.

Before the rally, our team fits your motorcycle with all the necessary equipment, along with the organizers’ safety equipment (geolocation system). Roadbook rental (Racing), GPS rental (Raid) and the safety equipment are included in the Support Package.

Do you sell navigation equipment?

Yes. Our specialist will give you a quote and advice based on your level, with delivery or installation in our workshop by appointment: contact us.

Any advice on airbag vests?

We recommend the Alpinestars model for its off-road performance. Rental and sale are available depending on our stock: allow at least a month and a half for orders.

Can your team fit GYTR parts to my motorcycle?

Yes: our team advises you and installs GYTR parts. Some equipment is available for rent, and a special discount applies for riders immersed in our official team. Contact us to plan ahead.

Logistics and services

How is my motorcycle transported to the rally?

Our team transports your motorcycle to the starting point. Just drop it off at our workshop and we’ll take care of the rest.

  • delivery by your own means;
  • our logistics partner, who collects it from your dealer in France;
