How much does a motorcycle raid in Morocco cost?

A motorcycle raid in Morocco, in adventure bivouac mode or comfort hotel mode: it changes everything for the budget. The format you choose carries more weight than anything else.
Based on our experience, here is a summary of all the costs to anticipate.
Which format for your raid?
Before talking about the budget, you need to choose your formula. Three main options exist.
Going in total autonomy. Your bike, your GPX tracks, your navigation, your bivouacs or hotels booked as you go. The cheapest formula, but the one that requires the most preparation…
Participating in a guided tour or raid. A guide to follow, tracks provided, accommodation included, a 4×4 providing assistance. You just have to ride.
Doing a raid within a rally-raid. This is a category that has developed in recent years: you set off on an adventure benefiting from the same structure and assistance as a rally-raid; you experience the rally from the inside, but in a touring version, without timing or rankings.
These three formats obviously do not have the same cost.
1. Reaching Morocco
This is the most underestimated item, and often the one that creates the biggest gap between two budgets.
The ferry from Sète or Marseille
€300 to €600 round trip, depending on the choice of cabin, the period, and whether you travel with the bike alone or with a vehicle. This is the simplest solution: you board in France, you disembark in Tangier or Nador.
The ferry from Spain
€80 to €150 round trip from Algeciras to Tangier Med. Much cheaper on paper.
Be careful, however: you must add tolls, fuel, and hotel nights to reach the port from your home.
Flight + local rental
€150 to €400 round trip to Marrakech, Agadir, or Ouarzazate, then a motorcycle rental on site.
The fastest formula if you have little time.
2. Motorcycle rental
If you don’t go with your own machine, count on €100 to €150 per day for a Ténéré 700.
Always check what the rental covers: tires, damage, deductible, mechanical assistance. A deposit is generally required.
3. Preparing your motorcycle
If you do not rent a motorcycle and choose to go with your own bike, maintenance and preparation are to be expected to ensure that your raid takes place in the best conditions:
- Reinforced TT tires or mousses €250 – €500 (to be adapted according to the type of route for your raid).
The ideal for off-road remains bib mousses - Protections (skid plate, handguards, radiator) €300 – €800
- Suspensions prepared and maintained €500 – €1,500
- Navigation (roadbook holder, GPS, Tripy) €300 – €1,500
- Additional fuel tank €300 – €900
- Air filter, inner tubes, wear parts €100 – €300
- Pre-departure service €200 – €500
- Service + consumables upon return €300 – €600

Everything obviously depends on your motorcycle and its current state of preparation.
4. Your equipment
Again, everything depends on what you already own. Here is the recommended equipment for riding in the desert:
- ECE-approved full-face helmet
- Motorcycle boots, enduro type for better protection
- Gloves
- Back and chest protection — or airbag
- Knee pads
- Goggles and tinted visor
- Jacket
- Jersey & Pants
- 3-liter Camelbak
For a complete first set of equipment, count on €900 to €2,500 depending on the brands chosen. If you already ride off-road, the bill will be much lighter.
5. The cost of supervision
For a raid or a guided tour, prices are generally between €2,000 and €2,800 per week, excluding motorcycle rental.
A concrete example: the Desert Tour. In November, our raid reserved for Yamahas takes place. The price is €2,500, and it includes:
- Hotel accommodation
- Half-board and snacks during the day
- GPX tracks or roadbook, depending on your category
- Stella safety beacon
- Assistance vehicle
- Medical vehicle

6. On-site costs
Fuel (over 2,000 km, depending on the bike) €130 – €200
Standard accommodation: €20 – €60 per night
Meals: €30 – €50 per day

7. Administrative and insurance
Morocco third-party liability insurance. Your European insurance does not cover Morocco. You must take out a TPL at the border when passing through customs. Count on €40 to €120 depending on the duration.
Repatriation and assistance insurance. Essential when riding in the desert, far from everything. €50 to €150.

A motorcycle raid in Morocco costs between €1,500 in total autonomy and €4,000 in a supervised formula with motorcycle rental. The difference lies in the chosen format, not the country: Morocco remains an accessible destination, and on-site costs are low.
What impacts the budget is you: your equipment, your bike, your experience. If you are already equipped for off-road, the budget will be lighter compared to someone who has to gear up from scratch.
