Yamaha R&D delivering GYTR racing technology to customers

The GYTR Performance kits for the Ténéré 700 World Raid and Ténéré 700 World Rally have been developed directly from Yamaha’s rally racing programme, delivering elite-level racing capability to Ténéré riders around the world.

An engineer on the front line

Emanuele Vignali is a Racing Engineer at Yamaha Motor R&D Europe who played a key role in developing GYTR kits.

Explaining his role in the Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing project overall, Vignali states, “The aim of the GYTR parts is to transfer to Yamaha customers all the experience of Racing activity, so as I work for Yamaha Motor R&D Europe my role is double: one responsibility is to develop the racing bikes of professional riders and the other one is to transfer all the racing experience to the R&D.”

Commenting on some of the specific qualities of the GYTR kits which boost the performance of the Ténéré 700 World Raid and Ténéré 700 World Rally, he adds, “Rally-Raid races require some fundamental improvements of the bike due to the environmental and extreme riding conditions, such as reliability, smart maintenance, good suspension quality and balance, good fuel capacity for long distances and so on.”

“The GYTR components are properly made for these reasons, like a bigger water radiator, oil cooler, bigger airbox and sponge filter, CNC clutch cover, suspension kit and rear tanks. With this kind of equipment it’s possible to enjoy even tough rallies like the Africa Eco Race.”

Official & amateur RIDERS: ON the same equipment

In terms of how the GYTR kits help the professional riders of the Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team in competition, as well as amateurs who join the Ténéré Spirit Experience for Rally-Raid participation, Vignali says, “The kits can give the rider everything they need, from basic adjustments to the full bike equipment as for our official riders. This is to give to our customers the opportunity to customize the bike based on their level and goals.”

The GYTR kits are being successfully used in elite level competition and have already been used to great success for stage wins, overall podiums and class victories for the likes of Alessandro Botturi and Pol Tarrés, in prestigious events such as the Africa Eco Race and the Morocco Desert Challenge.

“For sure the biggest accomplishment has been to win international Rallies with our racing bikes equipped with the GYTR kit. This has been the proof of the high performance level of these components,” concludes Vignali.

The best of rally-raid

Customers joining the Ténéré Spirit Experience can take their riding to the next level at some of the biggest Rally-Raid races in the world, fully supported by the Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team, riding GYTR equipped Ténéré 700 World Raid and Ténéré 700 World Rally machinery prepared by world class mechanics.
