RACING CATEGORY
The “Racing” category is the original spirit of rally-raid, the historic category of the Paris-Dakar, where the thrill of timed stages meets the challenge of roadbook navigation.
Joining the Yamaha Ténéré Rally Team in the Racing category means living the rally-raid experience like a true professional, supported by a professional team and riding alongside official riders!

RALLY-RAID
WHAT IS THE RACING CATEGORY?
This category is defined by three key elements: timing, ranking, and roadbook navigation.
- Rally-raid is a timed discipline: participants are ranked based on their performance. Be aware of penalties, missing a waypoint or exceeding speed limits can impact your final results.
- Roadbook Navigation: Mastering roadbook navigation is essential in this category. It’s a fundamental skill required to successfully progress through each stage.
This demanding category is where our riders and ambassadors: Alessandro Botturi and Gautier Paulin, truly shine. Both are legendary figures in the world of rally adventure.
RALLY-RAID: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE RAID AND RACING CATEGORIES?
The Racing category is a timed competition where performance, speed, and roadbook navigation are key to achieving a strong result.
In contrast, the Raid category focuses on adventure and endurance, without the pressure of strict timekeeping. It allows passionate riders to explore off-road tracks at their own pace, using either roadbook or GPX navigation, depending on their preference.
This distinction between Racing and Raid allows each rider to experience rally-raid in a way that matches their skills and goals, whether aiming for competitive performance or personal adventure.
TESTIMONIAL

Attilio Fert – Transanatolia 2024
What did the Ténéré Spirit Experience bring you during the Transanatolia?
“With the Yamaha team, everything is more precise, there’s more support for the rider, so you can really focus on riding, racing, then eating and resting.
There’s a real difference between what you might call an ‘amateur’ support team and a professional setup like the Ténéré Spirit Experience. You’ve got professionals entirely dedicated to the riders. In the morning before you leave, the mechanics fill up only the fuel you need for the special — so your bike stays lighter, almost all the time.
Between stages, there’s a Yamaha assistance truck waiting for you: you arrive, and it’s a bit like when a Formula 1 driver arrives, the bike is put on a stand straight away, everything is checked, if there’s been a breakage, it’s repaired, your mask is cleaned, you’re given food if you’re hungry, you set off again and it’s so good.
It’s all those little things that make a big difference, it’s super comfortable. Everything is done so you have zero distractions. With the Ténéré Spirit Experience team, everything is written down for you — your start time, special stage length, liaison times, where the team will meet you. That changes everything!”
